DatBot - How to Use Our Interface

Robert

What is a Workflow Engine?
Datbot is a new breed of chat interface, optimized for real, repeatable results. Built on dynamic chained workflows and our ‘knowledge map’ technology to save you time.
The Chat Input Box
This is where you can chat with DatBot and any of our models. If you want to scrape a website and include that information, just type “@https://website.com” and you’ll get the latest information from that website automatically.
Want to tweak how your AI responds? Check out our guide to DatBot’s settings to learn about temperature, models, and the other customization we offer.
The Chat Messages Container
This is where the model’s responses will appear, as well as your messages out. It’s directly above the chat input box.
The Chat List
This is where you can see the history of your chats. You can organize these chats by clicking the ‘Add Folder’ button, and then you can drag and drop chats into that folder.
Pro tip: Any settings changes you make (like switching models or enabling enhanced reasoning) apply instantly across all your chats for any future message until you change again. Learn more about available settings here.
The Prompt List
This is where a lot of the magic of DatBot happens. You can add prompts, organize them into workflows, and even run the whole folder’s worth of prompts seamlessly back-to-back. Learn more about workflows in our Prompt Workflows guide.
How do I edit a message?
You edit a message by clicking the pencil icon in any particular message. This opens up that message for edits. Just hit enter when you are ready to send, and DatBot will transparently version the message for you. You will see the version numbers appear at the bottom, and can click the arrows to the left and right to navigate between versions, continuing any chat where you left off.
How do I add a prompt?
You add a prompt by clicking the ‘Add Prompt’ button on the lower right-hand side of the screen. This opens up a prompt editor, where you can name your prompt, add your prompt, add it to a folder, and then click ‘Save’ to save it. You can drag these prompts around the prompt list to order them within that workflow, or elsewhere if you decide to move them later, and you can also delete them by clicking the trash icon. Learn more about creating and managing prompts in our Prompt Engineering guide.
Okay, but how do I add a prompt folder?
You add a folder by clicking the ‘Add Folder’ button on the lower right-hand side of the screen. This opens up a simple folder editor, where you can add your folder, and then click ‘Save’ to save it. They are always organized alphabetically.
How do I do the automation thing with a workflow?
You can execute all prompts in a folder by clicking the ‘play’ button on the folder. This will run the entire folder’s worth of prompts, which you can see as they come in within the main interface, with a friendly count to keep track of where you are in the workflow. Learn more in our Prompt Workflows guide.
How do I add another user or more credits to my account?
Need to add team members or get more credits? Check out our team plan guide for step-by-step instructions on managing your account, adding team members, and understanding how credits work for teams.
Can I download or export my chats?
Yes! Download any chat by clicking the download button in the upper right of the chat window. It’s a round button with a down arrow. It downloads as a CSV file, which is convenient so you can easily copy out just assistant messages, or the entire chat.
Note: This download gets your whole chat for the specific version active - what that means, is if you’ve edited a bunch of messages in the chat, it will get whatever is currently live on your screen at a time. Kind of a nuance, but important to know.
Extras - System Prompt
You get here by clicking the Person icon next to the gear in the bottom left of the screen.
This is where you can really personalize your AI. Think of the system prompt as “personality settings” for your AI - like giving it a job description or telling it how to act.
Want your AI to talk like a pirate? Maybe you need it to be super professional for client work? Check out our personality settings guide for the fun stuff.
But wait, there’s more! (Always wanted to say that) The system prompt, on the same page as tone (personality settings), is also where you can tell the AI exactly how you want it to think and respond. Want the AI to always include sources? Always think step by step? Always give you three options? Write in your exact style, by giving it examples of your writing? This is how you do it.
Pro tip: Like all our settings, any changes you make here apply instantly to all your future messages until you change them again.
